Another few months with no blog updates. To tell you the truth, I've been focused more on painting lately, than playing.
I have actually been getting games in. And while they have been fun, for the most part (which is mainly a reflection of the small group of friends I play with), they haven't been good battle report games.
I usually get one game in a month. Adulting can suck, but it is what it is. So, since January, I've played 5 games. Not one of those was a good battle report game.
January game I played Horde Orks vs Hereticus Astartes. A rather large portion of my army was unpainted, though my opponent's was painted rather well. The game actually went to turn 5 and I had hope for 8th ed. Mainly the pictures weren't good enough for a battle report, though I did make some rules mistakes, not that it helped me. I lost in a close and fun game.
February I tried my Tau against Hereticus Astartes. Thanks to the warp, I got Seized. Not that it mattered in the end. Game was called before Turn 3 as the Tau had rather quickly obliterated the heretics. Fun game due to my opponent, but a horrible battle report. One sided and dull to read. And again, most of my Tau are based red, but unpainted. See the theme? I'm working on rectifying the lack of painted minis.
For my March game, I had a friend help me play a simulation style game, where the choices we made were what we thought would happen in a book, between my Space Marines and his Eldar. I probably could have done a decent battle report on that one, but I didn't take notes or pictures, and rather just enjoyed the game.
In April I tried my all Terminator army, again vs Hereticus Astartes, but this time with a Kytan. This one was unacceptable for a battle report partly because it was really over turn 2, and partly because I forgot that Thunder Hammers hit on 4+, in Turn 1, which meant a dead Kytan by the end of turn 2. So, no battle report there either. Techically, I was way ahead on points (Maelstrom game) but with that rule gaff, that's a DQ.
And finally this month, May, I finally got a game in on my friend's almost completed table that he has been working on for about ...TWO WHOLE YEARS. Yeah, adulting sure can suck. Anyway, I took my Orks, and my artillery is all still unpainted. We played the Patrol narrative mission, and I deployed so bad that my mobs of Boyz never made combat in 5 turns. It was like a non-game, really. Which I lost. At least it went 5 turns.
So, that's where I am at. Painting more, and enjoying it for the most part. Working on building a light box, to take better pictures of the minis I am painting. I am not a master painter, by any stretch. Regular guy with not much time to hobby trying to get paint on things.
Hopefully, next month, I'll have something with pictures to post.
Until then, happy gaming!

Happy New Year!
40K 8th Edition
First off, Happy New Year. I hope everyone had a great holiday season. As you know, I haven't been blogging recently. That is due to 8th edition.
In short, it sucks.

June Update
Just a quick update, as there will be no Battle Report this month. With the arrival of 8th edition, and all the changes that come with a change as big as this, sadly there will be no carnage this month.
But no worries, next month there will be the first of our battles in 8th. Ork Warboss Bludcracka Ragegutta has just begun to gather the merest hint of a Waaagh! under his banner, and he was able to gain a foothold in the Tau city. Next month, he will unleash his boyz and see if they can drown the Tau in a tidal wave of green bodies!
Until next month, happy gaming!

Existential Threat Campaign Battle 1
Altar of War - Waaagh!
Mission Source: Waaagh Ghazkull Supplement
Mission: Waaagh!
Points: 1500
Armies: Orks / Tau Empire
Warboss Bludcracka Ragegutta stomped back and forth in front of his slugga boyz, inspiring them with his Mega Armour and his presence. His Kommandos had discovered a Tau settlement, and it was ripe for the picking. If they could just overwhelm this first line of defenders, he knew they could drive deep into Tau territory, and more Orks would flock to his banner. He stomped even harder, pistoned his power klaw open and closed a few times, then turned and advanced at the Tau line, firing his shoota as he went, to make sure his boyz went in the right direction.

Insurrection Campaign Battle 4
Maelstrom of War - Deadlock
Mission Source: Main Rule Book
Mission: Maelstrom of War - Deadlock - Vanguard Strike Deployment
Points: 2000
Armies: World Eaters / Tau Empire
[World Eaters Chaos Lord] had received some rather worrying news. The planned insurrection was not going well so far. The forces of Chaos had failed to recover the Kytan Daemon Engine from the Tau planet it had been located on, An Ork warband had caught Nurgle Warlord Mordebas Goulstur preparing for his part of the campaign. While Goulstur had seen the Orks off, it had been a close run thing, and Goulstur needed time to repair and refit his forces before leading them into action again, such was the brutality of the contest with the Orks. And now, he had news that a Tau'nar had been spotted in the lines before them. The reports had said the Tau forces before them were few, but possessed heavy firepower. No matter. Forward! Skulls for the skull throne! Blood for the Blood God!

Damocles Crusade Battle 2
Angels of Death - Altar of War - Hammer Blow
Mission Source: Angels of Death Supplement
Mission: Altar of War - Mission 1 - Hammer Blow
Points: 2000
Armies: Imperial Fists and Tau Empire
Shas'el Sha'draig Drauth, newly promoted Commander of a Hunter Contingent, listened to the orders again. A Space Marine force had been delivered by multiple drop ships inside the city, and were making their way towards a vital intersection, which if the Space Marines controlled would make it difficult to move reinforcements around. His orders were clear, repel the invaders and do not let them control the intersection.

Insurrection Campaign Battle 3
Maelstrom of War: Deadlock
Mission Source: Main Rulebook
Mission: Maelstrom of War: Deadlock
Points: 2000
Armies: Orks / Chaos Space Marines
Chaos Lady Malda Bastiinus, faithful vassal of Slaanesh, licked her lips in anticipation of the anguish and torment she knew that she and her followers would soon inflict on these upstart Orks. How dare they stand in the way of the ascendancy of the Chaos Gods? Who did they think they were to stand between the exalted warriors of Slaanesh and the Tau settlements that were ripe for the picking? They would be taught a lesson, a most deliciously painful lesson. One that would linger and last, the better to ensure the lesson sunk in, and the Orks came to know their place in the universe.
