Damocles Crusade Campaign Battle 3

Clashing Battalions

Mission:                  Eternal War - Crusade
Points:                    1000 points
Armies:                   Imperial Fists / Tau Empire 

Following the severe beating the Tau took in the last battle, they have broken contact and withdrawn deeper into the city. The Imperial Fists are forced to send out smaller patrols to try to find and fix the Tau in place, so they can be crushed.

For this game, there was a restriction that both sides could only use a Battalion detachment.

Having managed to fight their way through the initial Tau resistance, the Imperial Fists continue their dogged advance. Shadowsun is still opposing them, and has received additional troops to replace the losses after the last battle.

The forces of the Imperium are determined to reclaim the worlds lost to the ever encroaching Tau Empire on the Imperium side of the Damocles Gulf. Leading one of the strike forces is Captain Hektor, recently promoted to lead the third company when Lysander was promoted to be Captain of the First. Upon making planetfall, they find themselves face to face with Commander Shadowsun, and her minions.

Shas'el Sha'draig Drauth, newly promoted Commander of a Hunter Contingent, listened to the orders again. A Space Marine force had been delivered by multiple drop ships inside the city, and were making their way towards a vital intersection, which if the Space Marines controlled would make it difficult to move reinforcements around. His orders were clear, repel the invaders and do not let them control the intersection.

While the Tau Empire's Third Sphere of Expansion has proceeded fairly smoothly until now, the full attention of the Imperium, or at least the Eastern sectors, has been directed at the worlds lost as the Tau crossed over the Damocles Gulf. The time for retribution is at hand.

Test Game for Custom Mission

Test Game: Take the Walls [Custom Mission]

One of the things we want to do is play out an attacking force breaching a city, and fighting their way into it (hopefully). Since there isn't a mission which lays out how to do this, we are trying to figure out what point totals, special rules and/or other things need to be addressed.

In this mission, the attacker is trying to force a breach in the defender's city walls. Even though the Imperium is the attacker for the Damaocles Gulf Crusade, we figured it didn't matter who attacked and defended, since we are trying to figure out how to make the mission work, for all armies.

So the Marines defended for our test game, and things did not go so well for the attackers. Since both sides had 2000 points, trying to force a breach in a line of Marines who are dug in a defensive position and don't have to move was a difficult proposition, as you will see.
