Warzone Octarius: Pankallis Assault - Stage 1 Phase 2: Battle 9

This was a pick-up Crusade game, but since I used my Goffs Crusade army, I figured I'd count it as Battle 9. These two armies have a fairly lengthy rivalry going at this point, close on 5 years now. I took less notes and pictures than normal, so this report will be a bit shorter. With the Crusade rules, it will add even more depth to the history. Anyway, on to the battle!

Battle Size: Incursion - 50 PL

                    Deployment: Dawn of War

                    Mission: Behind Enemy Lines

Mission Victor Bonus: The Victor can give a unit a free Battle Trait of choice.

The Armies

Goffs

Mega-armoured Warboss Garhak Ugul Bludshredda Ghenga

Strike Team Manta

Strike Team Barracuda

Agendas

Goffs
            Krumpin' Spree
            Survivor

Farsight Enclaves
            Cull The Hordes
            Teachings of War

Deployment

Commander Shan'u on the far left of the Tau line, Strike Team Manta in the center.

Farsight beside Manta, and Broadside Team Megalodon with support
from Strike Team Barracuda.

All the boyz jammed into 2/3 of the board. 5" deployment
zone depth is not a lot.

Jawchoppa's mob on the left, Ghenga, Nogbugg and Bloodcuttah
in the center, Goregutz's Rukkboyz on the right, and Skrag's Grots in the front.

Turn 1

The Farsight Enclaves launched a direct assault on the Goff lines, trying to thin the horde as much as possible as fast as possible. Shan'u earned +1 XP for Cull, as did Orca and Megalodon. Strike Team Barracuda and Broadside Team Megalodon were stymied in their attempt to thin the numbers in Jawchoppa's mob when Grot Shields were employed, directing their fire into Skrag's mob instead.

The survivors of the Tau shooting surge forward.

Goregutz's Rukkboyz slam into Farsight and Crisis Team Orca.

Big Mek Nogbugg attacks Farsight first, dealing 4 damage.

Farsight interrupts, and kills Painboy Bloodcuttah, dealing 12 damage.

28 of 30 rukkboyz attack Crisis Team Orca.

The rush of Jawchoppa's mob is stopped dead by the resilient
bulk that is Megalodon, having dispatched their attendant drones.

Goregutz's Rukkboyz kill Farsight and Crisis Team Orca on the charge, hacking
through 6 drones and 3 suits in one phase.

Turn 2

Commander Shan'u moved into the exfiltration zone behind the surging ork lines and watched in silent anger as his Fire Caste warriors were being swept away in a torrent of violence and chopping axes.

Ghenga smashes into Strike Team Barracuda, who are
wholly unprepared to deal with him in a brawl. They die quickly
and messily.

Streaming through the ruins, the Rukkboyz plow headlong into
Strike Team Manta, wiping them out.

Also, Jawchoppa's mob hacked down the two members of Megalodon, with Jawchoppa himself stripping the last three wounds from Shas'vre Megalodon with his Power Klaw.

Turn 3

Commander Shan'u started the exfiltration Action, which he needs to do twice because he can fly.

Since he was standing there doing nothing, Nogbugg thought he might gain some favour from Ghenga by bringing his Warboss a Commander's head. Unfortunately for him, Shan'u's shield Generator was finely tuned and turned aside the power klaw attacks, and his Onager Gauntlet quickly dispatched the orkoid menace.

With no other surviving models to stop them, the Goff forces raced into the exfiltration zone, and headed off to find another fight deeper in the Tau zone.

Summary

What an absolute bloodbath. When enemies come and stand right in front of Goffs, and Goff Rukkboyz, they die a violent and quick end, with much screaming  and gurgling in their own blood. That was probably the last time the Tau will Montka right into the Boyz's face for a long time. I'm glad I got to enjoy it once. Now, they'll be running into firepower for as many turns as the Tau can manage on these tiny boards.

The Crusade continues! Crusade and Tempest of War are, hands down, the absolute best way to play 40K. Until next time, happy gaming!
