Warzone Octarius: Pankallis Assault - Phase 1 Stage 1: Battle 5

Cadre Fireblade Sul'an scanned the incoming data feed as the info flashed up on the heads up display inside his helmet. A new force had been discovered, and it was moving on an intercept vector with his Hunter Cadre. Aeldari. What were they doing in this system? Where had they come from so suddenly, as if they could spring out of the very ether wherever they chose. Regardless, this system would be the initial stronghold of the T'au in this sub-sector. The Ethereals had declared that the Lok'tok system would be taken. For the Greater Good.

Mission Victor Bonus: 2 units can be Marked for Greatness

Deployment

Sain-Zath was able to read the skeins of time and choose the ground this battle would be fought on. Hunter Cadre Sul'an reacted far more aggressively then anticipated, and launched an immediate attack.

Sul'an declares Kau'yon Tactical Philosophy.

And I forgot to snap pics of deployment. On to the carnage!

Turn 1

Devilfish Nishino noses up to the wall to claim the obective inside
the basilicum. Nishino and Hammerhead Murakan fire at the Wind Riders,
failing to do any damage with SMS and pulse weaponry.

Piranha Ren'as soared over the high walls and targeted the
Night Spinner with his fusion blaster and seeker missiles,
inflicting heavy damage, while the gun drones kill two Dire Avengers.

In response, the Night Spinner launched a salvo at Murakan,
inflicting light damage, and everything else combined to remove the
threat of Ren'as. It was Sain-Zath himself who finished off the skimmer,
earning both a Priority target tally, and a melee kill tally.
The Wind Riders fired a fusilade into Murakan, but the armour held.

Turn 2

Sul'an directed Nishino and Murakan to engage the Autarch.
The sheer volume of shots ensured a few wounding hits struck
home, but Sain-Zath remained standing, and annoyed.

Sul'an and Strike Team Els'im disembarked. Using Pulse Onslaught,
Relentless Fusilade and Coordinated Engagement, the three Wind Riders
were perforated. Rather thoroughly. Repeatedly. And Murakan claimed
the objective.

Score

T'au: 10

Aeldari: 10

Turn 3

Kauyon Tactical Philosophy active.

Murakan accelerated down the street, Nishino soared
over the wall into the basilicum. Four Seeker Missiles and
the Ion Cannon slam into the Night Spinner, wrecking it.
Pulse fire, Burst cannons and Smart Missiles rain down on the
Dire Avengers and Rangers.
Nishina +1 kill(ranged), Murakan +1 kill (ranged)

Sain-Zath stood amidst the shattered bodies of his
fellow Aeldari, vowing vengeance. The Ranger slipped
away into the shadows of the ruined city.

Star Glaive hacked into the engine of Murakan, trying
to exact vengeance for his fallen kin. To no avail.

Score

T'au: 30

Aeldari: 20

Turn 4

Els'im took up firing positions inside the basilicum,
using the same trio of stratagems again, to cut down
Sain-Zath in the street, firing pulse rounds into his twitching
body over and over to ensure he did not get back up. And he did not rise.

Final Score

T'au: 80

Aeldari: 20

Final Thoughts

The gap is closing as the Defenders start to earn some hard fought victories. While the Attackers still lead 12-9, it is much closer now.

The Aeldari force is going to float between Attackers and Defenders in the campaign, depending on which faction it is currently fighting in any given battle. The Aeldari are fickle, after all. That's it for this time.

Until next time, happy gaming!
