Captain Arastos had been expecting to ambush a T'au force known to be operating in this area. But now, Aeldari. Brazen as only Xenos could be. Zipping along with their foul technology and speed. He did not have time to reposition Squad Hektor. They would have to make do with their current location. He knew they would hold the line. Or die trying.

Squad Hektor, and Captain Arastos stand firm. |
Dire Avengers and Wind Riders to the left of the basilicum... |
...a Night Spinner to the right... |
...an Autarch back here... |
...and some Rangers up here, for a bit of plunging sniper fire. |
Turn 1
Devastator Doctrine is active.
Aeldari won the roll off so go first.
The Aeldari began peppering Squad Hektor with small arms fire, before starting in with the bigger guns. One downed terminator is an auto-passed Morale test, for +2 XP for Know No Fear. |
In return, Hektor moved up , and boltered the Dire Avengers down to two remaining, and swept the Rangers from the upper floor of the basilicum with Assault Cannon fire.
Turn 2
Tactical Doctrine is active.
The Wind Riders and the Night Spinner combine to drop one more Terminator. Another 2 XP for Know No Fear. |
In response, Hektor shreds the Wind Riders with Storm Bolter fire, and inflicts minimal damage on the Night Spinner. |
Score
Aeldari: 10
Imperial Fists: 10
Turn 3
Tactical Doctrine is active.
With most of his force battered, Sain-Zath looks for vengeance. |
The epic duel. |
With his forces being deleted at a prodigious rate, Autarch Sain-Zath takes matters into his own hands.
He swooped over the basilicum, landing before Arastos. He fired his Dragon Fusion at the mon-keigh, but it failed to wound. He charged in, his Star Glaive a whirling blur in his hands. Three times Sain-Zath thought he had found a hole in the defences of the lumbering giant. The first strike was turned aside by the shield, the second by the sheer density of the armour plate, and the third time, his blade skittered off a shimmering blue energy field. The layered defenses seemed impenetrable.
In response, the massive hammer seemed to move almost as fast as his sword, and Sain-Zath found himself being buffeted by that massive slab shield shoving him into the path of the hammer. Even the Strands of Fate and being able to absorb a blow that would have killed a mere mortal, he found himself unable to dodge fast enough, and that massive hammer crushed him into the street.
Arastos takes round 1. |
Sain-Zath arises, angrier than ever. |
This time, Arastos is the aggressor... |
...but the roles are not reversed, and Sain-Zath stays down. |
Score
Aeldari: 30
Imperial Fists: 20
Turn 4
Assault Doctrine is active.
The objective that Hektor was holding turns out to NOT be the supply drop, and so is removed. The Imperial Fists score no points this turn.
The Night Spinner kills another member of Hektor, earning them another 2 XP for Know No Fear. |
There were two Dire Avengers hiding in the nave, quietly earning an extra 10 points. Arastos, tired from his duel, can only manage to kill one of them this turn. |
Score
Aeldari: 60
Imperial Fists: 20
Turn 5
Assault Doctrine is active.
The central objective, where Arastos is fighting the lone Dire Avenger, is also NOT the supply drop, so is removed.
After failing to kill a member of Hektor, the Night Spinner moves to prevent them from claiming the supply drop. |

Final Thoughts
Pankallis Assault Attackers open up the lead again, 15-10. The new Armour of Contempt rule makes digging Marines, and especially Terminators, out of Light Cover an onerous chore. But they do seem to more fit the fluff. But we'll have to see how things turn out.
Just one more match ups to finish off Phase 1 Stage 1. Warboss Bonekleava and Captain Arastos need to square off. We'll see if Boyz are enough to handle Terminators that ignore AP -1 Choppas.
Until next time, happy gaming!
