Warzone Octarius: Pankallis Assault - Battle 22

 "Prior to an assault on a new area of the Imperial defenses protecting Pankallis, the Goffs have launched a small vanguard force to disable an early-warning sensor array in a sudden assault, aiming to overwhelm the small garrison and disable the site before they can raise the alarm."

Kriegmeister Keist and his company have been transferred to a quieter sector to rest and refit after their recent actions. While Keist is off doing Officer things, Commissar Stagler is overseeing the troops. Unfortunately for them, Waaagh Bonekleava has set its' sights on this sector to achieve a breakthrough in the Imperial lines. There is no respite for the valorous, no retreat for the faithful.

Deployment

Truppen Horst is sent on a Shadow Mission (Daring Raid), so is placed in Strategic Reserves.


The defensive line the Krieg are manning. The red dice on the left
are the edge of the map. The red dice on either side of the line represent
the Firestorm Barrage, which would prove to be devastating.
The Goffs have found a way to sneak into the line.

Squishy infantry packed inside the meagre cover.

The Firestorm would prove utterly devastating. Mortar Squad Devorr killed,
Truppen Kagorik wiped out, and Heavy Bolter Squad Garric lost a team. 






Turn 1

Truppen Valbeck is horrified to find the line flanked by a mob.

The Rukkboyz pounce of the defenders as they are still
reeling from the Firestorm barrge.

Truppen Valbeck dies horribly to the chopping and hewing
of the Goff choppas. Some very ineffective Krieg shooting was the only response.
Command Squad Karis performs the Raise the Alarm action.






Turn 2

The Goff tidal wave sweeps down the line.

They smash the bunker in one vicious charge. It doesn't
explode, and there are no casualties.

The remnants of the Kriegers respond, trying to block the
horde and thin their numbers as best they can. Commissar
Stagler perfroms the Raise the Alarm action a second time.






Turn 3

Big Mek Nogbugg moves to deal with Truppen Horst, who
were recalled from their Shadow Mission last turn. Goregutz's
Rukkboys uleash a horrendous slugga voley on Commissar Stagler, downing him.

They then crash into the two remaining Heavy Bolter Teams
in Squad Garric.

Squad Garric is quickly dispatched and the Goffs claim
another objective.

Nogbugg kills 3 from Truppen Horst, one of which is the Vox-caster,
who calls artillery down on himself as he dies. He wounds Nogbug 3
times, as well as killing 3 more members of his own Truppen.

Platoon Command Squad Karis digs in and performs the Raise the Alarm action,
knowing they are signing their own death warrants.






Turn 4

The Rukkboyz change direction, and head off to kill the
Platoon Command Squad.

Nothing but headlong charges all day, everyday.

And they make short work of the 'umies, but not before
they were able to Raise the Alarm, letting the rest of the
defenses know of the incoming attack.

Nogbugg kills 3 more from Truppen Horst, leaving just
the Watchmeister.






Turn 5

Watchmeister Horst, the last man on the field...

...falls to Nogbuggs' Power Klaw.






Summary

Krieg tabled, again!

Goffs vistory, 75 - 20.

The unrelenting tide of violence this IS Goffs sweeps away all opposition once again, this time with an absolutely crushing Firestorm barrage. Reeling from the first blow, the Krieg were never able to recover. They were able to successfully Raise the Alarm, though they died for their devotion to duty.
