Warzone Octarius: Pankallis Assault - Stage 1 Phase 2: Battle 16

Having fought a detachment of Iron Hands to a stalemate, Kriegmeister Keist had his men re-arm and re-load, then headed back out to collect a supply drop and drive the Iron Hands out of this sector. For the Emperor!

The Battle

Well, this one was super quick, and very bloody.

Iron Hands deployed on their home objjective.

Most of the Krieg force deployed on their home objective.

Truppen Kagorik trying a pincer move pre-game.

So, here's what happend. It was so horrific I forgot to take pictures.

Turn 1, Kagorik got wiped out by the firepower of Intercessor 1, Company Champion and Captain.

The Reaper moved into position and poured fire into the mass of bodies in the ruin, and only killed three.

Keist had to order Truppen Horst and Valbek to Move Move Move so they could get their meltaguns in range of the tank, but only stripped 8 wounds off it, and the field guns missed. The important thing for me was that I forgot my Regimental Doctrines completely. Learning moment.

The Reaper then, with two squads of infantry in the open, did what it does best. It REAPED. It hoovered up both squads and the command squad, leaving Keist on his own.

The field guns did literally nothing this battle, except make a lot of noise. Maybe they'll work better once they are painted.

The last man standing, Kriegmeister Keist performs a forlorn hope
charge to take down the murder machine. He died to Overwatch fire.

Summary

Wiped out to a man! That was a dominating performance by the Iron Hands. 12" anti-tank weapons might be a problem in the future.

Also, not forgetting my Warlord Trait (Old Grudges), or my Regimental Doctrines (+1 to hit when under full strength, +1 to hit for arty) would have been really helpful.

Lessons learned, hopefully!
